Deciphering P&IDs: A Neo4j Approach to Design Automation

Session Track: Applications

Session Time:

Session description

In the realm of engineering design, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) are crucial, yet they present a significant challenge: They are traditionally treated as static drawings rather than dynamic data, hindering the automation of the design process. In this session, Hiroyuki will unveil how the innovative use of Neo4j transforms P&IDs from mere drawings into a rich, interconnected dataset. You will learn how to leverage the relationships between components to automate design tasks. Join the session to explore the cutting-edge intersection of engineering and graph database, and take the first step towards design automation mastery.

Design Innovation Unit Leader, JGC Corporation

Hiroyuki Koito, design innovation unit leader / expert of design automation at JGC corporation, has significantly advanced the field of design automation systems. His journey with graph technology began in 2021, leading to the development of a graph-based P&ID system through Neo4j self-education at Graph Academy. Despite his initial expertise in mechanical engineering with skills in Fortran and VBA, Hiroyuki independently mastered Cypher/APOC and C# to create the system's core algorithms and design its concept as product manager, drawing from his deep understanding of plant engineering.
