Neo4j Desktop

Neo4j Desktop is a local development environment for working with Neo4j, whether using local database instances or databases located on remote servers, including instances in Neo4j Aura.

In Desktop, Browser is available as a built-in tool called Query. You access the Query tool from the sidebar in Desktop or from the Connect dropdown directly on an instance card as long as that instance is running.

  1. Download Neo4j desktop application from the Deployment Center.

  2. Install and start the Neo4j Desktop application using the provided instructions (shown when downloading).

  3. Set up your first instance and database.

  4. Connect to Query either from the sidebar or directly from the Connect dropdown on the instance card.

For more information about Query in Desktop, see Neo4j Desktop → Query documentation.

Neo4j Desktop version 2.0+ does not support the legacy version of Browser. You can only use Browser functionality in the built-in tool Query. Similarly, Neo4j Desktop version 1.6 and earlier only supports the legacy version of Neo4j Browser.
